Doula & Birth Classes

Supported, Informed, and Never Alone

Hi, I'm Chelsea, the birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator here at Delilah's Maternity. Our shop has always been about supporting moms through every stage of motherhood. Doula care and birth education are the most personal ways I can do that.

I'm a DONA-trained birth doula, currently completing certification, as well as a postpartum doula and childbirth educator. I'm based in Sandy at our store in the Shops at South Town. For 4 years I've supported families as a doula, and I've owned Delilah's Maternity for nearly 3. My goal is to help you feel calm, prepared, and truly cared for, from pregnancy through those tender first weeks at home.

My Story

Chelsea, doula and owner of Delilah's Maternity

I'm Chelsea, mom to a 4-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son. They're the reason I do this work.

My first pregnancy was high risk. I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa, a rare and honestly terrifying complication. It meant pelvic rest, then bed rest, gestational diabetes on top of it, and a planned C-section. Thankfully, my baby and I were both okay. Through all that uncertainty I coped the way my ADHD brain knows best: I hyperfocused and learned everything I could about birth. Knowledge gave me a little control when so much felt out of my hands. Along the way I fell completely in love with how powerful, beautiful, and amazing mothers and birth really are.

My son's birth was a VBAC. I labored unmedicated for 44 hours and transferred from a birth center to the hospital. I chose an epidural for the last 9 hours, with no augmentation, and then had a minor postpartum hemorrhage. It wasn't the birth I pictured, and it was still beautiful and mine.

I've also known the quiet grief of a miscarriage. It's a loss I hold gently, and it helps me sit with families through their own.

Because of these experiences, I can truly understand pregnancy loss, high-risk pregnancy, bed rest, gestational diabetes, planned and unplanned cesareans, VBAC, long labors, transfers, choosing an epidural without guilt, and a postpartum recovery that doesn't go to plan.

I've spent four years supporting families as a doula. I'm DONA-trained and finishing my certification, and I learned under a highly experienced doula who shaped how I care for families. I've also read more than 40 books on pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early childhood. For nearly three years I've owned Delilah's Maternity here in Sandy, a place where moms can find what they need and feel at home.

I believe every birth deserves support, however it unfolds. If you're wondering whether we'd be a good fit, I'd love to meet you for a free consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a doula do? Do I still need a doctor or midwife?

Yes, you still need your provider. A doula gives continuous emotional, physical, and informational support but doesn't perform medical tasks. I work alongside your OB or midwife.

When should I hire a doula?

Most families book in the second trimester, which leaves time for all three prenatal appointments. Due dates fill up, so reaching out early is best.

Do you support epidurals, inductions, and cesareans?

Absolutely. I support your birth however it unfolds, whether that's medicated, unmedicated, induced, or cesarean.

Do I need a birth class if I hire you?

No. Your prenatal appointments cover the full curriculum, and you also get one year of access to my online class and all the handouts. If you took a class first, its fee is credited toward your package.

What's the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula?

A birth doula supports you through pregnancy and labor. A postpartum doula supports your family at home after baby arrives. The Birth + Postpartum Bundle includes both.

Do you accept Medicaid?

Please ask me about Medicaid when you reach out.

Are you a certified HypnoBirthing® instructor?

No. I use relaxation, breathing, visualization, and affirmation techniques inspired by my study of hypnobirthing. I'm not a certified HypnoBirthing® instructor, and my classes aren't affiliated with any branded program.
